London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane welcomes Shakespeare back into its hallowed halls December 7, as the Jamie Lloyd Company production of The Tempest begins performances. December 7.
The production, which marks Sigourney Weaver's West End debut as Prospero, will run until February 1, 2025 with opening night set for December 19. Directed by Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Boulevard), this production marks the first time Drury Lane has hosted a Shakespeare production since Peter Brook’s production of The Tempest starring John Gielgud in 1957.
Weaver is joined by Jude Akuwudike as Alonso, Jason Barnett as Stephano, Selina Cadell as Gonzalo, Mathew Horne as Trinculo, Mara Huf as Miranda, Forbes Masson as Caliban, Mason Alexander Park as Ariel, James Phoon as Ferdinand, Oliver Ryan as Sebastian, and Tim Steed as Antonio.
Lloyd's creative team for Tempest includes set and costume designer Soutra Gilmour, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer and co-composers Ben and Max Ringham, co-composer Michael 'Mikey J' Asante, movement director Fabian Aloise, music director Giles Deacon, and intimacy coordinator Ingrid Mackinnon.
