Asa Butterfield, best known for playing Otis Milburn in the Netflix series Sex Education, makes his stage debut in Barney Norris' Second Best beginning January 24 at the Riverside Studios in the U.K.

Based on David Foenkinos’ best-selling novel, the solo play is directed by Michael Longhurst. Performances are currently scheduled through February 22.

Second Best follows Martin Hill, who at the age of 10, was on the brink of stardom, down to the final two contenders for the role of Harry Potter. Now an adult, Martin is about to become a father. As he navigates this whirlwind of emotions, he is pulled back to that pivotal moment in his past as he struggled to move beyond imagining what his life might have been.

In an earlier statement Butterfield, who will soon be seen in the Netflix thriller Out of the Dust, said the play is "equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, a universal tale of ‘what ifs,' and I can’t wait to bring it to life on stage for the very first time.”

The production also has set and costume design by Fly Davis.

Simon Friend Entertainment produces.
