The new drama tells the story of a young and gay Black man facing homophobia in the Marines.

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming drama The Inspection starring Broadway's Jeremy Pope (Choir BoyAin't Too Proud—The Life and Times of The Temptations). Set to release in the U.S. November 18, Elegance Bratton directs the film inspired by Bratton's own experiences.

Pope plays Ellis French, a young and gay Black man who has enlisted in the Marine Corps and tries to hide his sexual orientation but is unsuccessful. Facing a homophobic mother at home and near-lethal hazing at boot camp, the film follows French as he tries to find validation and acceptance.

Joining him in the cast are Raúl Castillo, McCaul Lombardi, Aaron Dominguez, Nicholas Logan, Eman Esfandi, Andrew Kai, Aubrey Joseph, Bokeem Woodbine, and Gabrielle Union.

The film originally made its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Union also serves as executive producer for the film, and served as a producer for Broadway's American Son.
