Off-Broadway News Rob McClure is Off-Broadway Little Shop of Horrors' Next Seymour

The Mrs. Doubtfire Tony nominee will take over the role from Skylar Astin at the Westside Theatre.

Rob McClure will take over the role of Seymour in Off-Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors beginning July 12. McClure is stepping in as Skylar Astin sets an early departure from the production, leaving following the July 3 performance to begin filming So Help Me Todd for CBS. Evan Alexander Smith will take on the role from July 5–10.

McClure, a current Tony nominee for his performance in the recently closed Mrs. Doubtfire, was also Tony nominated for his 2013 performance in the title role of Chaplin. He has also appeared on the Main Stem in I'm Not RappaportAvenue QHoneymoon in VegasSomething Rotten!Noises Off, and Beetlejuice.

He will join a cast that includes Tammy Blanchard as Audrey, Tony Award-winner Christian Borle as Orin Scrivello, Stuart Zagnit as Mushnik, Aaron Arnell Harrington as The Voice of Audrey II, Khalifa White as Ronnette, Cristina Raé as Crystal, Khadija Sankoh as Chiffon, and Eric Wright, Teddy Yudain, Josh Daniel, Michael Iannucci, Jana Djenne Jackson, and Chelsea Turbin.

The Off-Broadway revival resumed its run September 21, 2021, after temporarily closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

The revival, directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, opened in October 2019. The creative team for the Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical also includes choreographer Ellenore Scott, scenic designer Julian Crouch, lighting designer Bradley King, costume designer Tom Broecker, sound designer Jessica Paz, puppet designer Nicholas Mahon, original puppet designer Martin P. Robinson, hair and makeup designer Tommy Kurzman, music supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger Will Van Dyke, and casting director Jim Carnahan. Puppets are by Monkey Boys Productions.

General management is by Live Wire Theatrical/Chris Aniello, and production stage management is by Ryan Gohsman.
