Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley helmed the first part of the acclaimed drama at the Texas venue.

The ZACH Theatre production of Matthew López's The Inheritance, the 2020 Tony winner for Best Play, began with Part 1 August 10 in Austin, Texas. Helmed by Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley, the limited engagement plays its final performance September 4.

Starring Peter Frechette as E.M. Forster (“Morgan”) and Walter Poole, the production closes the company's 2021-22 season; the 2022-23 season will launch September 14 with The Inheritance Part 2.

The cast also features Brenden Kyle MacDonald as Young Man 1/Adam McDowell/Leo, Martavius Parrish as Young Man 2/Jason #1/Doorman 1/Agent, Jackson Janowicz as Young Man 4/Young Walter/Assistant, Britain Stibora as Young Man 5/Charles Wilcox/Toby’s Agent, Kriston Woodreaux as Young Man 6/Tristan/Dealer/Doorman 2, Nash Ferguson as Young Man 7/Jasper/Paul Wilcox, Nicolas Garza as Young Man 8/Jason #2, Christopher Joel Onken as Young Man 9/Eric Glass, Jake Roberson as Young Man 10/Toby Darling, Jonah Fujikawa as Man, and Scott Galbreath as Henry Wilcox.

Set in contemporary Manhattan, The Inheritance follows Eric and Toby, 30-somethings who seem to be in love and thriving. But on the cusp of their engagement, they meet an older man haunted by the past and a younger man hungry for a future.

Following its London premiere, The Inheritance played Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre September 27, 2019-March 11, 2020, subsequently winning four Tony Awards: Best Play, Best Direction of a Play, Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play, and Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play.

The Texas production also has scenic design by Josafath Reynoso, costume design by Aaron Kubacak, lighting design by Austin Brown, and sound design by Allen Robertson.
