Tony Award winner Karen Olivocelebrates her birthday August 7.
Olivo made her Broadway debut in the original Broadway production of Rent, joining the company as ta swing and understudy for Mimi Marquez and Maureen Johnson. The actor would return to the Main Stem in the 2004 production of Brooklyn as Faith before originating the role of Vanessa in Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights in 2008. Olivo would collaborate with Miranda again in the 2009 revival of West Side Story, earning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Anita.
Karen Olivo is currently starring as Satine in the musical adaptation of Moulin Rouge! at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
