The working title is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event," and it is being produced by the film's original producer, Lou Adler, along with Gail Berman and Danny Ortega. Ortega will also direct and choreograph the TV special.

The DH story said "the TV remake is expected to stick faithfully to the text and the score of the original but greatly reimagine the story visually."

No date for the broadcast has been announced. The casting process is just beginning.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" was adapted from the 1973 West End musical The Rocky Horror Show, which ran only 45 performances on Broadway in 1975. The film, which came out just a few months later, used several members of the Broadway cast, including Tim Curry, Richard O’Brien (also the composer/lyricist/librettist) and Meat Loaf. Richard O'Brien wrote the stage version, and collaborated with Jim Sharman on the film, which was also directed by Sharman.

Among highlights of the score are “Time Warp” and “Sweet Transvestite (from Transylvania).” The film was not a hit in its original release, but soon developed into a favorite in midnight screenings at which fans dressed up like the characters and answered the dialogue on the screen.

The TV remake is not the only Fox "Rocky Horror" project in the works. Fox Pictures has scheduled a Halloween re-release for the 1975 film, with a companion release that will include outtakes from the original, according to an earlier report on Showbiz411. Ortega and Adler have also teamed for the companion film, title to be announced.

Yet another related film, "Rocky Horror Saved My Life," is planned for 2016.
