Long-time stage actor, Lee Wilkof, has made a stamp with his directorial debut, No Pay, Nudity. The film earned recognition for Achievement in Filmmaking by the jury of the 2016 Stony Brook Film Festival.
The movie premiered on July 26 at the festival. Wilkof participated in a Q&A with Nathan Lane, Loudon Wainwright III and Zoe Perry in honor of the screening. Written by Ethan Sandler, the film follows a group of aging actors as they struggle to hang on to the art they love in a business that challenges them every day. According to press notes, “Gabriel Byrne, playing comically against type, portrays aging actor Lester Rosenthal, a man who has lost his way with his career, his family, and his friends. A hilarious Nathan Lane, along with Frances Conroy and Boyd Gaines, portray his fellow thespians, all waiting for the right role to come along as they hang out in the Actors Equity lobby.”
