The U.K. première of Dawn King’s The Trials, directed by Natalie Abrahami, plays London's Donmar Warehouse through August 27.

Elise Alexandre, Francis Dourado, Jowana El-Daouk, Will Gao, Pelumi Ibiloye, Honor Kneafsey, Joe Locke (Netflix's Heartstopper), Rue Millwood, Charlie Reid, Meréana Tomlinson, Taya Tower, and Jairaj Varsani star as the jury, joined by Nigel Lindsay and Sharon Small as the defendants.

As part of the casting process, 1,372 young people were engaged through schools and community groups, and a further 206 young people were engaged in development workshops for the play at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, with support from National Youth Theatre.

Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director Michael Longhurst said in an earlier statement, “Dawn King’s explosive new play about the climate crisis demands we consider the generation most affected. I am proud that as part of our casting process for The Trials the Donmar has created an extensive engagement program with young Londoners from our community, opening routes into the industry and platforming the next generation of actors and activists.”

The production also has designs by Georgia Lowe, lighting design by Jai Morjaria, sound design and music by composer Xana, movement direction by Anna Morrissey and Aaron Parsons, video design by Nina Dunn, voice coaching by Emma Woodvine, casting by Anna Cooper, and associate direction by Joseph Hancock. The sustainability consultant is Julie’s Bicycle, and the production drama therapist is Wabriya King.
