Three-time Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda appeared on the July 6 broadcast of The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat about Broadway reopening and his experience making his directorial debut in the Netflix adaptation of Tick, Tick...BOOM!.

"Not only is Hamilton back but it's never been a better time to see a Broadway show because even the long-running shows have now had a rehearsal process. They've had to start from scratch and put their shows back up again," he tells the "Since U Been Gone" singer. 

The Hamilton creator goes on to chat about Andrew Lloyd Webber taking over as the DJ at The Phantom of the Opera's re-opening, his past jobs as a bar mitzvah party starter and a substitute teacher, and Andrew Garfield's screen performance as Rent playwright Jonathan Larson in tick, tick...BOOM!, which Miranda directed for Netflix.

"The amazing Andrew Garfield is embodying Jonathan Larson. He's singing and playing piano, and he's incredible," shares Miranda. "It was just an amazing, personal thing."

tick, tick...BOOM! was released November 10, 2021 on Netflix. The musical drama stars Garfield, Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, and Vanessa Hudgens, as well as appearances from many Broadway favorites—including Rent cast members Renée Elise GoldsberryAdam Pascal, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Wilson Jermaine Heredia.
