The Broadway favorite will reunite with her Everything Everywhere All At Once costar Michelle Yeoh.

Be More Chill and The SpongeBob Musical performer Stephanie Hsu has been cast in a guest starring role in the upcoming Disney+ series American Born Chinese, as reported by Variety

The series is an action-comedy based on Gene Luen Yang's graphic novel of the same name. It will tell the story of teenager Jin Wang and his growing relationship with a new foreign student, Wei-Chen. As the series develops, Jin becomes entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

The stage performer will appear as Shiji Niangniang, Goddess of Stones. The character works in a jewelry store and has a magical dog. The series will reunite Hsu with her Everything Everywhere All At Once costar Michelle Yeoh, who plays Jin's aunt.

Rounding out the cast is Emmy nominee Yeo Yann Yann (Wet Season), Chin Han (Mortal Kombat), Daniel Wu (Reminiscence), Ke Huy Quan (Finding 'Ohana), former Taekwondo champion Jim Liu, and Sydney Taylor (Just Add Magic). 

Kelvin Yu will lead the creative team, serving as executive producer and showrunner. Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and executive produce, alongside Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan, Erin O'Malley, Asher Goldstein, and Gene Luen Yang.

This project is not Hsu's first on-screen credit. The performer had a recurring role in Hulu's The Path, as well as MTV's Girl CodeThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. She played a lead character in A24's Everything Everywhere All At Once, which has received critical acclaim.
