As previously announced, the season will kick off with Brant's Marie and Rosetta, directed by Neil Pepe. Following the success of Grounded, Brant returns Off-Broadway for the world premiere of this new play with music about sister Rosetta Tharpe, who influenced the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and Jimi Hendrix.

The season continues with The Band’s Visit, also previously announced. The new musical features a book by Fortress of Solitude playwright Moses and music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Yazbek. Based on the film of the same name, the story follows an Egyptian police band that arrives in Israel to play a concert. Performances are set to run November through January.

Also slated for the fall is 1001 Nights: A Love Story About Loving Stories, featuring music and lyrics by Oscar and Tony winner Lopez, and a book by Koplan and Lopez. The children’s musical will launch the Atlantic for Kids season.

To kick off 2017, Atlantic will stage Lázaro’s newest play, Tell Hector I Miss Him, about love, family and the underbelly of Puerto Rico’s Old San Juan. Next will be the world premiere of a new play by the theatre’s co-founder, Mamet, written specifically for Atlantic’s ensemble.

In May, Vicky Cristina Barcelona star Hall will star in Animal, to be directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch. Lizzimore’s newest work is billed as a “darkly comic play about the underside of domesticity, the complexity of the brain in chaos, and the thin line between sinking and survival.”

One additional mainstage season production and a second Atlantic for Kids production will be announced.
