Regional News Anthony Crivello Will Lead The Old Man and the Sea Premiere at Pittsburgh Playhouse The new stage adaptation of Hemingway’s classic will debut February 1, 2019.

Tony Award-winning actor Anthony Crivello (Kiss of the Spider Woman) will play Santiago, the aging Cuban fisherman, in Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. The new stage adaptation will make its premiere beginning February 1, 2019, at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.

A.E. Hotchner, Hemingway's official biographer, and his son, Tim Hotchner, wrote the adaptation that runs through February 17.

The Old Man and the Sea is based on the Pulitzer- and Nobel Prize-winning 1952 short novel.

The cast also includes David Cabot as Hemingway and Gabriel Florentino as Manolin. Simon Cumming is creating the original score. Pittsburgh Playhouse Artistic Director Ronald Allan-Lindblom directs.
